The announcement was made via the official Fire Service account on X, under the supervision of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection. The fire hazard forecast map for Monday includes a total of 23 regions and regional units across the country, where the hazard level was judged to be particularly elevated. This classification is based on the combination of meteorological conditions and vegetation which, according to the authorities, create a favourable environment for the outbreak and rapid spread of fires.

Among the regions included in the hazard forecast map for Monday 7 September 2026 are Attica, including Kythera, as well as Euboea and Crete. These three regions were mentioned by name in the briefing given on Sunday, but the complete list of 23 regions in the very high hazard category is published by Civil Protection on the official fire hazard forecast map. The inclusion of both island and mainland regions in the same category suggests that the deterioration of conditions is not geographically limited, but affects broader areas of Greek territory with different vegetation and climate characteristics.
