Xanthi: 16-year-old killed in two-bike crash

A 16-year-old boy lost his life and a 20-year-old was seriously injured in a road accident shortly after midnight on the night of Sunday 16 to Monday 17 August 2026, in the Mandra area of the Xanthi prefecture. According to Xanthi News and Evros24, the two young men, who were friends, were riding separate motorbikes when the two vehicles collided. The 16-year-old rider died, while the 20-year-old was taken to Xanthi General Hospital with multiple injuries. An EKAV ambulance and Hellenic Police units went to the scene, and the police are carrying out a preliminary investigation into the exact circumstances.
