Tourism for All: applications close on 21 August

The deadline for applications to the «Tourism for All 2026-2027» programme expires on Friday 21 August 2026 at 23:59, according to Dimokratiki tis Rodou and Ekklisia Online. The online platform opened later than originally planned, which squeezed the time available to applicants. The programme subsidises stays at participating tourist accommodation across the country, with the aim of widening access to holidays and extending the tourist season beyond the peak months. It is run by the Ministry of Tourism and is addressed to individuals who meet specific income and other criteria, set out in the call for applications.

The timing of the deadline matters, because the market is at the height of its season. Over the 15 August holiday, occupancy at Cyclades accommodation approached one hundred per cent, while advance bookings reached 76% on Mykonos and ran at 92 to 93% on Santorini, Paros, Milos, Skiathos and Halkidiki. In such conditions, accommodation in popular destinations has no incentive to release beds for subsidised bookings, with the result that beneficiaries turn to off-peak destinations or to autumn dates.

The programme operates on a lottery system when the number of applications exceeds the available budget, while beneficiaries receive a digital card credited with an amount that covers part of the cost of their stay. The terms, the subsidy amounts and the list of participating accommodation are set by the relevant ministerial decision. Applicants need to have their credentials to hand in order to log in to the platform, as identification goes through the state’s central authentication system. The programme was designed to boost demand in destinations and periods of low occupancy while at the same time improving access to holidays for lower-income households, two aims that do not always coincide in practice.

The delay in opening the platform and the tight deadline have prompted comment about the scope for meaningful participation, particularly by households that do not follow such announcements closely. It has not been announced whether an extension will be granted. Applicants are urged to check the eligibility criteria before submitting, since an application that does not meet the conditions is rejected with no possibility of correction once the deadline has passed. The results and the list of beneficiaries are announced after the deadline expires, together with instructions for activating the digital card.
