Halkidiki: 29-year-old found dead in road accident

A 29-year-old man, who had been reported missing, was found dead inside his car in Halkidiki, following a road accident. According to reports by Naftemporiki and in.gr, the vehicle had gone off the road on the Moudania–Sykia National Road, near the 84.7 km marker, and was located by search teams mobilized after the missing-person report. The 29-year-old’s identity has not been made public. It has not been made known exactly when the accident occurred, nor whether another vehicle was involved.

The sequence of events — a missing-person report ending in the discovery of a vehicle off the road — is not uncommon on Greece’s national and provincial road network. When a car leaves the road at a point with dense vegetation, a slope, or a ravine beside the roadway, it may not be visible to passing drivers, even when the spot is just a few meters from the traffic lane.
