Substitute EEP/EVP staff: apply by August 24

Applications open Friday, August 14 for the hiring of temporary substitute Special Educational Staff (EEP) and Special Support Staff (EVP) for the 2026-2027 school year. The relevant call carries the number 107931/Ε4, is dated August 13, 2026, and was issued by the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports. It covers fixed-term private-law contracts, lasting up to one school year, for both special-education structures and general and ecclesiastical education. Applications are submitted electronically through the Integrated Information System for Personnel Management, at opsyd.sch.gr. The OPSYD platform is the single submission point for all categories of substitute staff and keeps the service history and supporting documents of each candidate.

Eligibility is limited to those registered on the final evaluation lists. The Γ1΄ list covers the ΠΕ21, ΠΕ22, ΠΕ23, ΠΕ25, ΠΕ28, ΠΕ29 and ΠΕ30 specialties, which resulted from ASEP notice 2ΕΑ/2025, published in Government Gazette Γ΄2989 of June 16, 2026 and revised in Γ΄3755 of July 27, 2026. The Γ2΄ list covers the ΔΕ01 specialty, from ASEP notice 1ΕΑ/2025, published in Government Gazette Γ΄2281 of May 7, 2026 and revised in Γ΄3703 of July 22, 2026.

The deadline runs from Friday, August 14 to Monday, August 24, 2026. This is the stage for declaring area and structure preferences, which determines where each candidate can be placed once hiring begins. The process is distinct from drawing up the ranking lists, which ASEP has already completed. Candidates who do not apply within the deadline will not be included in the first round of placements. The ministry has not announced how many positions will be filled, which depends on requests from education directorates and on budget approvals.

Special Educational Staff include specialties such as psychologists, social workers, speech therapists, occupational therapists and physiotherapists, while Special Support Staff assist students with disabilities with their daily needs at school. These specialties are essential for the operation of inclusion classes, special schools and parallel support. Completing the process on time in August aims to have staff in place from the start of classes in September, an issue that has periodically sparked strong reactions from parents. Parent associations and teaching federations have for years called for converting some of these positions into permanent ones, so that the same process does not have to be repeated every September and continuity of student support is ensured.
