Farmer Card: what changes from August 28

The new digital Farmer Card becomes available on Friday, August 28, 2026, via the myAGRO platform of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (myagro.aade.gr), according to reports from the newspapers TA NEA and Ypaithros Chora. It is a new digital tool that links the details of each farmer with their subsidised production, with the goal of facilitating access to financing without additional bureaucratic steps on the side of the producer. The new tool is part of the broader effort to digitalise procedures in the agricultural sector, aimed at faster interconnection of each farmer’s production data with banking institutions and public bodies, without the need to submit physical documents at each transaction.

According to the TA NEA report, once a producer completes their OSDE declaration, a digital file with a QR code is automatically created, which carries the Tax Identification Number (TIN), the name, the IBAN and the amount of subsidies of the specific producer. The declared IBAN remains locked throughout the duration of the financing contract, in order to prevent changes to the bank account during an active loan. Meanwhile, as noted by Ypaithros Chora, banks participating in the process must notify the AADE within five working days from the moment a loan is fully repaid.

For farmers seeking financing, this change means in practice less paperwork and fewer trips to banks or services to submit documentation. The file with the QR code functions as a single point of verification of a producer’s details, something expected to speed up the evaluation of financing applications from banks that will have access to the system. The locking of the IBAN for as long as financing lasts offers additional transparency in the relationship between producer and lender, as it rules out the possibility of changing the collection account in the middle of an active contract. For producers operating in areas with pronounced seasonality, such as agricultural production in many regions of the country, faster access to verified details through the myAGRO platform can facilitate the planning of financing needs before critical periods of the growing season.

It is not yet clear from the available reports how producers whose OSDE declaration remains pending when the platform opens on August 28 will be treated, nor whether there will be a transitional period for these cases. Interested producers are urged to complete their declaration in good time so as to gain access to the new tool from its first day of operation.
