HELLENiQ ENERGY: fuel discount extended into September

HELLENiQ ENERGY announced on Monday 31 August 2026 the extension of the exceptional fuel discount into September 2026, according to Oikonomikos Tahydromos. The discount is set at €0.10 per litre for 95 octane unleaded petrol and €0.05 per litre for diesel at the pump, maintaining the same level of support that applied in previous months. The company did not proceed with an increase in the discount level compared to previous months, but preferred the simple extension of the current measure, according to the publication.

At refinery level, the discount provided to fuel retailers amounts to €0.0795 per litre for petrol and €0.0405 per litre for diesel, excluding Value Added Tax, according to the same publication. The difference between the discount at the pump and at refinery level reflects the way in which the benefit is transferred through the fuel distribution chain, from the company to retailers and ultimately to the consumer, with VAT being added at the final stage of pricing at the pump. The publication of both discount levels, at the pump and at refinery, allows greater transparency as to how the final price seen by the consumer at the station is formed.

The extension of the measure affects drivers and businesses across the country who are burdened by fuel costs, at a time when energy price increases appear on more than one front, including electricity.
