e-EFKA and DYPA: 61.1 million to 68,370 beneficiaries

Payments totalling 61,105,430.38 euros to 68,370 beneficiaries will be made by e-EFKA and DYPA in the week from 17 to 21 August 2026, according to the payments map published by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security on 14 August. Most of it concerns regular payments made every week, but this particular period coincides with the days after the Dormition of the Virgin, when many services operate with reduced staff and beneficiaries look for confirmation of when the money will be credited. The same table does not include main and supplementary pensions, which follow a separate timetable.

In detail, e-EFKA will pay out on 19 August 11,605,430.38 euros to 21,570 beneficiaries for maternity, sickness and accident benefits, as well as for funeral expenses. Over the same five days the body will pay out a further 15,000,000 euros to 600 beneficiaries, an amount corresponding to decisions on lump-sum payments. For its part, DYPA will pay out 18,000,000 euros to 30,000 beneficiaries for unemployment benefits and other allowances, 1,500,000 euros to 2,200 mothers for subsidised maternity leave, and 15,000,000 euros to 14,000 beneficiaries of subsidised employment programmes. The e-EFKA payments for sickness and maternity benefits depend on the completion of the clearance of applications, a process that has been speeded up since the relevant certificates were digitised.

The breakdown shows where the weight of benefits is concentrated today. The 600 lump-sum beneficiaries absorb on their own about one quarter of the total amount, which reflects the nature of the benefit, paid as a single sum on retirement. Conversely, unemployment benefits are spread across 30,000 people, that is, the largest group of beneficiaries, with a clearly smaller average amount per person. The employment programmes, with 14,000 beneficiaries, mainly concern subsidies to businesses for maintaining or creating jobs. DYPA pays unemployment benefit on a monthly basis, with the amount linked to the minimum wage and the duration depending on contributions over the last two years.

Beneficiaries can check the progress of their payment through the online services of the two bodies, while the exact day the money is credited also depends on the bank. The ministry publishes the payments map on a weekly basis, a practice established in order to limit rumours about delays. Earlier in August, payments of 56.7 million euros up to 14 August had been announced, while September’s pensions will be paid on 26 and 28 August, as TodayGrid recorded in the report “September pensions: payments on 26 and 28 August”. Beneficiaries who cannot find the credit are advised to check first the details of their account in each body’s register, since an incorrect or inactive IBAN is the most common cause of delay.
