Tinos: ferry with 192 passengers strikes quay

A passenger and vehicle ferry made light contact with the quay at the port of Tinos late on the evening of Friday 14 August 2026, during arrival manoeuvres. According to information from the competent Port Authority, relayed by local media, the ship was operating the Lavrio–Tinos–Mykonos–Tinos–Lavrio route and at the moment of the incident was coming from Mykonos. The impact dislodged a small piece of material from the quay, with no injury to any passenger or crew member reported and no marine pollution observed in the area. The ship remained in port for the established inspection, while passengers disembarked normally.

On board were 192 passengers and 64 crew members, while 52 passenger vehicles and six two-wheelers were being carried. After the inspection that followed, departure was permitted once a certificate confirming continued seaworthiness had been produced by the ship’s classification society, a procedure formally provided for in every incident of contact with port infrastructure.
