Naxos: power cut on Wednesday across the island

A general power cut is scheduled for Wednesday 19 August 2026 on Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades, according to an announcement by DEDDIE reported by Naxos Times. The general cut will last from 06:00 to 06:30 and will affect the whole of the area’s network. In a number of settlements, however, the cut will be considerably extended and will end at 08:30. According to the same report, those settlements include Tsikalario, Filoti, Chalki, Damarionas, Damala, Kaloxylo, Apeiranthos, Moutsouna, Volakas, Potamia, Tripodes, Agios Arsenios, Galanados and Glinado, as well as Agios Prokopios and Agia Anna. The cut also affects Koufonisi.

Scheduled cuts of this kind are carried out by the network operator for maintenance, upgrade or new infrastructure connection work that cannot be done with the network live. DEDDIE as a rule chooses the very early morning hours, so as to limit disruption for households and businesses. The instructions accompanying such announcements always include the warning that network conductors must be treated as live throughout the cut, since power may be restored without warning before the stated end time if the work is completed earlier.

For Naxos the timing matters.
