Athens Airport: 15.8 million passengers in the first half of 2026

Athens International Airport S.A. (AIA), the company that operates the “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport in Spata in eastern Attica, published on Thursday 10 September 2026 its financial results for the first half of 2026. According to the company’s announcement, passenger traffic reached 15.8 million passengers, up 4.5% compared to the same period in 2025. Adjusted EBITDA amounted to 168.5 million euros, with a profit margin of 56.2%, as AIA stated in the figures released for the half-year, without further analysis of the individual revenue categories that make up this figure.

The company clarified that the figures released concern passenger traffic and adjusted EBITDA, without announcing net profit, total revenue or any possible dividend for the half-year. At the same time, AIA reported that it will flexibly execute the airport expansion programme so that capacity can be increased gradually beyond the target of 40 million passengers that has been set for the coming years. The “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport is one of the largest transport infrastructures of Attica, with a direct impact on employment, tourism and commercial activity in the wider area around Spata. The 4.5% increase in passenger traffic compared to 2025 concerns the overall network served by the airport, while the company’s reference to a possible further expansion of capacity is linked to how traffic will develop around the airport in the coming years.
