Municipality of Athens: 11 hires at Community Centers

Eleven jobs on fixed-term private-law contracts have been advertised by the Municipality of Athens for the sub-project “Continued Operation of Expanded Community Centers in the Municipality of Athens”. The sub-project is funded by the “Attiki 2021-2027” programme. The call was made public on Monday 10 August, while applications from interested candidates open on Tuesday 11 August and will be accepted until Thursday 20 August 2026.

The specialties sought cover a wide range. They include social workers and psychologists, nursing staff, as well as administrative staff for the secretarial support of the facilities. Posts are also provided for candidates holding a lower secondary school certificate, which widens the pool of those able to take part in the process. The contracts are fixed-term and are tied to the duration of the co-funded sub-project, as set out in the call.

Applications are submitted using the ASEP SOCH.12 form, accompanied by the required supporting documents. They must be filed in person or through an authorised representative, at the Registry Office of the Municipality of Athens, at 159 Patission Street. No option for electronic submission has been announced for this particular call, so candidates must come to the office within the ten-day window set by the announcement.

Community Centers operate as first points of contact for citizens seeking access to welfare programmes and social support services. In their expanded form they also offer specialised services, which is why the advertised posts include professional staff. The funding from the “Attiki 2021-2027” programme links their operation to the current programming period of European resources for the region.

For Athens, where a large number of beneficiaries of social programmes are concentrated, the staffing of these facilities determines waiting times for appointments and the quality of the support provided. Hiring eleven people does not change the overall picture of the city’s social network, but it does secure the continued operation of the Expanded Community Centers, which is the stated purpose of this sub-project.

The announcement does not publicly specify the duration of the contracts or how the posts are distributed across the city’s facilities. Nor has it been made known when the provisional results are expected.
