Agios Dimitrios: Dead Police Officer Found in Vehicle

A police officer was found dead late on Monday, 10 August, inside a locked service vehicle without identifying markings, at the intersection of Pikrodafni Street and Vouliagmenis Avenue, in Agios Dimitrios. The man was found in the passenger seat. He served at the General Police Directorate of the Greek Police and had left his home in Neos Kosmos around 23:00 on Sunday, while his partner had reported him missing.

According to the forensic examination findings, death occurred 10 to 12 hours before discovery, that is, around midday on Monday, 10 August. Pulmonary edema was recorded as the most likely cause of death. A bottle of gin was found near his feet, most of its contents consumed. The vehicle was locked and bore no service markings.

Authorities are examining as a possible scenario the combination of alcohol consumption and high temperatures inside the closed vehicle.
